Bio
Rachel Jean is an award winning emerging figurative/portrait artist that enjoys exploring layering both realism and expressionism to create moving portraits. She often focuses on raw, candid moments intended push boundaries with the intention to bring light to social issues, and minorities. While mainly working with oil paint, she also works with oil pastels and collage/mixed media.
Rachel believes that art has the power to teach, heal, and give a voice to those who may have been silenced. She believes that art should be accessible to all, and hopes to continue to reach as many people with her work as possible. Some of her most recent pieces include "Overlapping Energies" which was inspired by British painter, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, and was featured at Centre Gallery, in Tampa FL, celebrating 100 Women artist. She was also featured in Art Center Sarasota's 2024 regional juried exhibition "Beyond Comfort" for which she won the Peoples Choice award for her self portrait in oil paint "What was she wearing".
